BIOGRAPHY

Noah Xifr has painted all his life. Born in Madrid, Spain to teaching artists, this 3rd generation artist started drawing as a child inspired by the park, the city, the birds he raised, Spanish old master and surreal painters, science fiction and comic books. Noah grew up between Spain and The Bronx, NY where he won his first art award in 5th grade for a NY Transit Museum poster design. In college, he earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from the Cooper Union School of Art, with a major in Painting and Printmaking. His creative journey has brought him to found and give artist talks on the Symbolic Realism arts movement, a home for contemporary surreal conceptual artists.

His artwork is in private collections in the United States, Spain and Israel, and he has exhibited internationally at galleries and art fairs.Noah’s art commissions include public art, portraits, illustrations, branding designs, printmaking, and photography. He is working on a series of 22 murals of the major arcana for a deck of tarot cards representing the broadest biodiversity of endangered bird species titled the Bird War Tarot. Highlights of Noah’s public art include murals at Welling Court Mural Project and at 5Pointz Aerosol Art Center, in Queens, NY, and his oldest surviving public mural “Like a Phoenix We Rise” (1997) in Manhattan was featured in the documentary “Muralist Noah Xifr” on WMNN. In 2012 he crowdfunded his first self-published graphic novel series / artist book, the psychological thriller PAIN FULL NESS 1 VOICE BOXED (PAIN1) on Kickstarter. He has taught art to all ages, and is a marketing consultant with an MBA. He lives in South Slope, Brooklyn, and is an Artist-in-Residence at Chashama in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY.
